Quality Motherboard

Strengths: Core 2 Duo ready. Very good manufacturer BIOS support. Onboard HD sound, WIFI, firewire, gigabit LAN. Lots of goodies including array microphone, IDE cables, SATA cables.

Weakness: Does not support crossfire or SLI. Not all DDR2 RAM is compatible. Slightly expensive.

This motherboard is rock solid stable and also a very good overclocker. I like how Asus includes programs like AI NOS to help the average computer user to overclock without diving into the BIOS. Very well thought-out PCB design and placement of motherboard components. WIFI was a requirement for me so I loved how it was included so I wouldn't have to waste a PCI slot for an adapter.

High-end gamers using ATI's crossfire or nVidia's SLI should look elsewhere as this motherboard does not support either.

Make sure you do your research and get compatible DDR2 RAM for your motherboard. On the Asus website they have a QVL (Qualified Vendor List) that shows all compatible RAM modules. Personally, I use Crucial Ballistix PC2-6400 RAM and they work great (listed on the QVL).

Don't settle for less

Strengths: Tons of features. Built-in wireless, plenty of expansion slots, easy install, comes with tons of extra wires and goodies, great bios.

Weakness: I don't see the point in having 2 ethernet hook-ups, I'd rather have 2 extra USB slots instead personally, but maybe some people find it useful.

This motherboard really has it all. It was very pricey, but worth it. I didn't even care about the built-in wireless, but since it's there, I thought I might as well test it out, and now I love it and use it as my primary network connection. Updating the bios was a simple process, and in the box was a ton of wires and screws and such to make sure I had everything I needed. I am glad I didn't save a few bucks and get one of the lower-end mobos.

P5B Delux

Strengths: supports the 775 processors, all of them

Weakness: price, ram restriction

I only bought this one because the Asus P5W DH Deluxe wasn't realy available anywhere. This motherboard is one of few Asus that support the new core 2 duo, and i really do not buy any other motherboards other than asus. I like the features of the board as well as the support. I wish it could handle more ram speed. Overall I like this board, i would probably buy it again.

Asus P5B Deluxe WiFi-AP Motherboard Review

Strengths: Great for Overclocking, Built in WiFi.

Weakness: None So Far

This is a great MotherBoard for all those People who love OverClocking. I was able to to overclick my 2.40 Ghz Core 2 Duo process to 3.69 without any problems and it is running stable at 48 degree Celcius without any problems. Installation was pretty simple and easy. This motherboard has a lot of features including Stack Cool 2, heat pipe and 8-Phase power to run the system cooled.

965p board with everything that a person would need

Strengths: Tons of features, onboard wifi, core 2 duo support, Asus quality

Weakness: Price

Asus has made a great core 2 duo motherboard. This board has everything but the kitchen sink. It has onboard wifi, sound, raid, sound, gigabit ethernet.

The major downfall for this board is the price. At over $220 for this board, its a little hard to grasp. For a bit more you can buy a 975x motherboard.

Feature-rich Socket T motherboard

Strengths: Supports all Socket T processors

Weakness: Expensive. Should come down in price as NVIDIA 590 SLI and other Intel chipset motherboards come to market and mature. No official SLI support. The second PCI-E is only x4.

Easy setup in P180B case with Core 2 E6300 processor. Currently running stable at 3.2GHz overclocked with stock cooler. Memory used is OCZ DDR2 6400. Will eventually overclock higher with better third party cooler. I highly recommend to get this board. Lots of features. I will plan to use RAID 5 as I get more SATA hard drives after price goes down even more. eSATA port is a bonus as well as WiFi and firewire port.

Added on 8/31/2006:
You can flash new BIOS with Alt+F2 option with USD flash drive attached. No need to have floppy drive unless you are installing the OS on RAID drives. Other two options to flash BIOS are from Windows and DOS formatted disk. I was getting "Core uCode load error" in initial BIOS screen but updated BIOS fixed this message.

Wow

Strengths: High Def Audio, Wifi Buit In, Overclocking Features, Core 2 Ready

Weakness: Price, One IDE Slot, Specific Memory Allowed

ASUS Motherboards are usually top quality and this one is no exception. Great features for the computer enthusiast. You can take complete control of your computer through this motherboard. Real easy to tweak and play around with some of the features ASUS gives you which is kind of neat.
On the minus side, the price is a bit steep for some. I had a bit of a problem because there was only one IDE slot. I had a few DVD drives and a Hard Drive that needed it, so I had to buy an extra controller card. Make sure you have some SATA drives with this motherboard. Also, the memory allowed is very specific. Check the ASUS site to make sure the memory you use is compatible with this motherboard.
The motherboard is great though. Really cool features and very top quality.

Fantastic Motherboard

Strengths: Supports *all* Socket T 775-pad Intel processors including the new Core 2 Duo, the former Pentium D, Pentium 4, Celeron D and Celeron in Socket T formats.

Weakness: No dual-videocard support; a non-issue for most people.

Overclocks like a dream. Runs stock or overclocked like a rock. It's powered by the Intel P965 and ICH8R chipset. Both are new and feature packed. This board has everything a single videocard user could ask for. A QUICK SIDE NOTE: ATI and NVIDIA really need to go DUAL-CORE. REGARDLESS, this motherboard rocks! It's just that simple. Check the Intel and Asus product pages for more information. Search by model and/or product numbers.

Great MB

Strengths: Tons of extras, Supports Intel E6400 Core 2 Duo with no modifications.

Weakness: Not a weakness of the board but rather Asus, it would be nice if Asus made an intermediate P5B board. The P5B is very bare while the P5B Deluxe has got everything. None other than that.

I love this board, it has everything that you woud need. I am using it with the Conroe E6400 and it is running great. This board is very easy to overclock and has tons of extra items, Onboard WiFi, Directional Mic, Extra USB and Firewire setups. This is the second Asus that i have bought and they are by far my favorite choice for MBs.

Solid Motherboard for new Intel Core 2 Duos

Strengths: Works great with new Core 2 chips. Built-in WiFi a plus. Packaging includes good amount of cables and accessories. Stable and fast.

Weakness: MSRP a little on the high side, but can be found on sale with decent discounts.

I just put together a system with this mobo and an Intel E6400 and so far all has been good. I must have gotten the updated BIOS with my board, because the Core 2 chip has not led to any problems. I know it's been said that some people had problems running Core 2 chips before updating their BIOS.

3rd asus mobo

Strengths: noiseless, easy to connect pin headers, quad core ready

Weakness: cpu temp reader is off

this is a very nice mobo (and it should be for the price) zero noise, easy connection of pin headers, raid, esata, wifi the list goes on i believe its a better but because all the extra features if you find them useful. teamed with core 2 it should last a couple years atleast. best of all it works great and is stable. my only gripe is that the cpu temps read high as do most p5b mobos its usually 2-5c above the core temperature according to the intel thermal analysis tool.

Great all around motherboard

Strengths: Great overclocking ability, good organization, tons of features, rock solid stability!

Weakness: Price

This motherboard is fantastic. I paired it with a Core 2 Duo E6420 processor and 2GB of Crucial Ballistix PC2-PC6400 DDR2. Fast fast. Overclocking is a breeze. I like Intel RAID setup. In my experience, it's quite a bit snappier than nForce RAID setups. I have my processor oc'd to 3ghz (up from 2.13ghz) and it hasn't crashed yet! Stability is great. Definitely gives me even more incentive to keep going back to ASUS motherboards, that's all I've ever owned. The one and only drawback is price. I had my E6420 in hand and just didn't want to wait a week for an online order so I ended up @ CompUSA paying the retail price. However, you definitely get what you pay for!
