Asus P4P800 Desktop Motherboard - Intel 865PE MCH...

Strengths: Good Value, onboard raid really helps!

Weakness: should have 2 more SATA so can put more drives.

I bought it with Pentium 4 3.2E CPU, runs perfectly. The Q-fan function in the BIOS really quiet down the system. for those of you who are seeking a high-performace but reasonable price, this is the one.

Asus P4P800 Desktop Motherboard - Intel 865PE MCH...

Strengths: stable, fast, easy overclocking

Weakness: price

Easily installed to my case as an upgrade from Athlon XP. Now running P4 3.2E Prescott, with a Zalman 7000Cu Heat Sink. Working really well with no problems. Would definitely buy again.

Asus P4P800 Desktop Motherboard - Intel 865PE MCH...

Strengths: extreme overclocking capacity. the voltage for CPU, DIMM, AGP and the frequency for AGP/PCI bus can be adjusted.

Weakness: no on-board firewire support.

This is the best board if you want to overclock a socket 478 Pentium 4 processor. The front side bus can be adjusted up to 400 Mhz, giving you unlimited capacity for overclocking. It does support Prescott core.

Asus P4P800 Desktop Motherboard - Intel 865PE MCH...

Strengths: easy to operate, easy loading of drivers and other software for the motherboard itself, extensive ability to upgrade, affordable

Weakness: excellent for gaming but not top quality

excellent for an average pc user or even someone who enjoys gaming. It's highly affordable and easy to operate and will provide entertainment and the ability to upgrade for years to come. I feel it's the best motherboard on the market for your average PC user.

STRONG PERFORMER!!!

Strengths: Excelent overclocking, fast, solid motherboard

Weakness: only one, no fire wire (ieee 1393), but enough slots to add a card.

I have had this mobo for close to 2 years now and have not had ONE SINGLE PROBLEM with it. When I purchased it, I also got a P4, 2.26GHz, 533MHz FSB cpu that I had over-clocked to 3.4GHz (800MHz FSB). I recently got a 2.8GHz HT cpu that I am using (old cpu still working, just wanted to get HT capable cpu). If you are looking for a solid mobo, this is it, from a solid manufacturer, ASus (the best, I think). At this point, a little dated with AGP and socket 478, but if you have a cpu, and AGP card, get this board!

ASUS P4800SE Motherboard

Strengths: Easy Installation, 8 USB ports, runs cool, AI Overclocking

Weakness: none so far

I had to buy a new motherboard as my old motherboard got shorted. I opted for this one as I saw some good reviews and had faith in Asus as I was fully satisfied with ASUS mypal A730W bought earlier. I knew ASUS provided good quality products. This Motherboard runs cool for Prescott cpu - Intel 3.0E GHZ. Unlike my previous motherboard which would run too hot. Worked perfectly in the 1st installation.Need not had to worry about any setup issues. Would definitely buy ASUS products in the future. Highly recommended.

Cant beat ASUS

Strengths: Price vs. features. Easy to set-up and use. Nice overclocking abilities.

Weakness: no firewire headers, only two SATA ports.

This is a great mobo for the price. There are a lot of nice feature built into this mobo. There are 2 SATA port but i woul dlike to see at least 2 more and there are no firewire headers on the mobo either. I dont use firewire at this time but its always nice for the future if you happen to buy a device that uses firwire by chance. All in all this is a great mobo and you cant beat the ASUS name for quality and value.

Has power problems and very unstable. Not...

Strengths: On-board sound and LAN.

Weakness: Very unstable. USB devices causes ICH5 bursts. No onboard Firewire.

This board was a Torture for me. I had 2 Southbridge burst in 2 months, and after 8 months a 3rd one. RMA Lab says mobo is fixed and OK... Keeps random lock-ups on XP, even in BIOS, with CPU below 45C. "Crash-free BIOS" crashes very often. This MoBo is not for you if you have a Prescott CPU and want to bulid a solid, stable system.

Asus P4P800 Desktop Motherboard - Intel 865PE MCH...

Strengths: ASUS quality and dependability are definitely top notch

Weakness: Install options are incomplete for Windows Xp if you don't have SP1 or SP2, especially USB2 and SM Controller.

The ASUS P4P800-SE motherboard was purchased to replace a free ECS mobo received with an Intel 3.0 GHz Prescott CPU. As some once said, you get what you pay for. After struggling through system shutdowns from an overheated CPU by completely redoing my cooling system, I found erratic performance of my applications as well.

This particular computer is in my living room and is used a multimedia center, primarily video recording and playback. The CPU performed perfectly first with an ATI All in Wonder 7500 and then with the Hauppauge PVR 20. I could record and playback simultaneously without loss of quality, and for a short period of time could record with both the ATI AIW and Hauppauge PVR at the same time with no loss of quality. I did, however, have to disable the hyperthreading mode in the bios. Then, I found the recording began to stop after 45 minutes when I was also doing a playback. Other problems occurred with DVD-RW and USB2 devices. After several discussions with technical support, I concluded that there was a video overlay problem.

Enter the ASUS P4P800-SE motherboard. I also have two other ASUS mobos on working computers, and have few problems over the last four years. The mobos are in the upper price range, but relief from my headaches was worth it. The installation was relatively painless, except for incomplete USB 2.0 updates. (I am using Windows Xp Pro without SP1 or 2). Luckily, my P4PE mobo cd had a very good USB 2.0 installation program, so I used that. I did also have to manually change a switch setting to allow remote powerup from a cordless keyboard, as well as install the Intel inf drivers to enable the SM Controller installation.

I wish I had bought the mobo at Xmas when I got the CPU, but money was a little tight. Now, I am running dual channel DDR and all my apps work great with hyperthreading, and have no problems with lockups when running video recording and viewing simultaneously.

The ASUS mobo has a great feature called Q-fan control that works well with the Prescott CPU. My CPU fan was almost as noisy as my air conditioner, running at 2700 rpm trying to cool that small furnace called a CPU. Using Q-fan the CPU fan speed dropped to about 2000 rpm and after switching my case fans to 9 volts with an external AC/DC adapter, my computer runs as quiet as a mouse. Now I have to double check just to see if it is turned on.

P4P800 SE MB

Strengths: It's an ASUS MB

Weakness: NO beep at beginning to tell you everthing is good...

It works great with HT P4 with 800 front bus speed.... It has a booster that monitors the P4 with HT technology.. Over all a great buy... Hard to get a reply from ASUS technical support, they do not write back on email...
