Great processor!

Strengths: Amazing processor. Works great and super fast!

Weakness: Get a better cooler.

This is a really great processor and performs lightening fast. I would recommend getting a larger cooler or upgraded heatsink and fan for this since it is such a monster.

Very fast and very reliable

Strengths: 1MB L2 x2, fast dual access, OS bootup is amazing

Weakness: none to currently report, very nice processor

The stock retail heatseek and fan works just fine if you have a case with enough air flow. I run a full tower with 2x120 fans coming in the front and 2x120 fans out the back.

I would highly suggest for any dual core to update your OS (XP) with the dual core patches found on AMD web site. Without these patches you will not fully use the dual core processing power these processors have to offer. After installing their patches it runs very fast and no issues with any game or software I have ran so far. I was having issues with UT2004 and other games, as well as FRAPS, before applying patches.

Just when it coudn't get any better!

Strengths: Speed, speed and more speed! Dual core, Large cache.

Weakness: Stock CPU cooler isn't enough for this, definatly invest in a better cooler.

Well if your an AMD fan then this is definatly a sweet little processor. Chews up everything and with all the updated cards, memory and periferals integrates semlessly and actually works better. The only drawback is the CPU cooler, but that has always been a downfall to their retail packs. Doo yourself a favor and pick up and decent fan.

Fast Fast Fast processor!

Strengths: Extremely fast, dual core!

Weakness: none!

This processor is wonderful. It is very very fast, dual core, and easy to overclock. This is one of the best AMD processors you can buy for the money! It is expensive, but the bang you get for your buck is amazing!

Very Nice

Strengths: Speed, Price, Threads, 64, AMD. It performs great once you Throw out the stock heat sink.

Weakness: P.O.S. Heat sink! Can it.

The first time i installed this processor it ran at 70c under load! After i took off the heat sink i could see the stock thermal paste was CAKED on there.. so bad that the processor wasnt even making total contact with the heat sink, which is a piece of crap.. (no copper at all??)

once i put some artic silver on there, with a nice heat sink, it runs nice and cool. in fact, i overclocked it to 2.8. ran below 50c.

It handles everything i throw at it.. including bioshock on full settings. even with other programs running.
Asus M2N Sli Deluxe. (AMD 64 x2 5200+) Geforce 8600gts. 2Gb Corsair 800. Western Digital Hd.
Rock Solid.

AMD ATHLON X2 5200=

Strengths: pretty fast

The Amd X2 5200+ processor is a pretty decent CPU. It is clocked at 2600mhz and you can probably bump that up if you overclock it. For everyday tasks it seems to be pretty fast. It runs pretty hot. I tried benchmarking it uses 3dmark06 and it would shut down my computer due to it running hot. Not sure if that is CPU related or my cheap ECS nforce 4 motherboard. Overall I'm pleased with this cpu. I also like that it has 1mb l2 cache instead of the 512mb of L2 cache on most other of the amd processors.

conroe is better if you overclock

Strengths: reasonable price fast good compatible motherboard is cheap

Weakness: not as good as core 2 duo

got it for cheap with free ecs motherboard. Is fast out of box. Easy installation, stock fan is pretty good. However when overclocked, conroe E6600 smokes it.
However if you buy intel, compatible good motherboards are expensive.

Affordable step into dual core processors

Strengths: Relatively cool running, a lot of power for not a lot of money

Weakness: None noticed so far

A friend wanted to enter the dual core market, so this was a relatively inexpensive option. One minor gripe we had with it was the installation of the heatsink and fan. I had grown used to the installation of Socket 478 heatsinks, so it took a while to install this one, as we didn't want to apply too much force.

The great dual-core AMD Socket AM2 Processor !!

Strengths: For CPU speeds means everything! stably! easy overclock! Great core with relatively cheap price. Nice processor for performance, price, and well easy running.

Weakness: Runs a bit hotter for my tastes, The fan it comes with is cheap! very loud and not efficient! Need a better fan!

I can't believe how fast this processor is! Runs multiple programs at the same time without any delay! Super fast processor, makes everything load and install in a flash. easy installation!

Amazing speed

Strengths: Very fast and affordable

Weakness: None

I love AMD's mixture of reliability and affordability. One major change in their processors over the years is an enclosed core, which helps reduce damage while installing (I've hard cores that have crumbled in the past, but this is not a problem now).

Athlon 64 X2 5200+

Strengths: fast, cool and a fair price

I bought this processor to move into the dual-core world and to try and make sure the latest Vista games would run smoother.

First impression was a Vista score improvement from 4.2 with an Athlon XP 4000+ to a 5.1 score with the 5200+.

More importantly, the cpu is running much cooler: 50 celsius with San Diego core and Masscool fan (bad fan) to 35 celsius with XP 5200+ and stock fan

I do not even have a proper cooling set up yet, so this lends me to think I can oc this chip quite easily.

Athlon 64 X2 5200+ Dual Core Processor

Strengths: Speed, 64bit, dual core

Weakness: none

Great for a medium end PC, can do everything from Vista, games, word, internet. I used this processor to build a friend's PC. Great for a budget PC you won't sacrifice quality or speed. Beats intel prices.

Great Processor

Strengths: Fast, Dual-core, very powerful, and large cache!

Weakness: The fan can be a little noisy at times, but enabling Cool N' Quiet helps with that.

Very fast processor! My old PC used an Athlon XP 3200+. I built a new one using this processor, and WOW, what a difference! Very fast, very powerful. Installing programs goes very quickly, running them is no problem at all.

I don't overclock my CPUs, but even so, the fan can be a little noisy, and the CPU runs a little warm--though nowhere near anything damaging. For comparison, my EVGA nVidia 256MB 7600 GT video card has a much louder fan. When you enable Cool'N'Quiet, a lot of the noise goes away.

When I thought I got a good deal...

Strengths: fast, powerful, DualCore

Weakness: Warranty limitations

Great processor. Generally impressed by the size and weight of it. I installed it and have had absolutely no problems since then. Documentation is decent, but don't expect great things there.
Provided heat sink is tied to the warranty. If you install a different one than the one from the box, you void the warranty. Since I am novice user I was planning on sticking to stock-fan, but am still surprised by this.
All the weaknesses though come with the processor, are not FROM the processor.

AMD Athlon X2 5200+

A middle of the road option in the AMD lineup, the AMD Athlon 5200+ can handle whatever you throw at it competently. Rated at 2.7GHz or 2.6GHz (dependent on the specific model processor you buy) with a TDP of 65W, the 5200+ is cool and efficient enough to be quiet and light on the utility bill, but strong enough to handle a fair bit of gaming or encoding without becoming a system bottleneck that...
