GeForce 8800 GTX Video Card is Awesome

Strengths: Amazing game settings without hesitating. Runs super high frame rates at any setting. It will run my future 30" Dell in native resolution:) Fastest card right now and many benchmark tests prove it.

Weakness: Huge, will not fit in my current dell demension 5150. I will have to change the cpu cooler to get it to fit, so it is currently in an HP which it fits ok in. Price is high, but similar to 1900's CF.

This card is the ultimate card so far. It is also very large, a few inches longer then my ATI X1900XTX.

It would not fit in my Dell dimension 5150 due to the cpu cooler being in the way, so it is in my girlfriends HP A1314N until I get my computer build done in the next 1-3 months or till I get a new cpu cooler in my Dell (lucky her). She had a midgrade card and ran WOW on medium high settings at around 45fps (average), this card will run all the settings MAXED/VERY HIGH around 75fps (average) and with no trouble in busy areas too. The only glitch so far is the graphics are messed up when you switch to windows and back to WOW (probably a driver issue and we haven't checked for a new driver yet), easily fixed by going back and forth from windows to WOW again.

I was actually planning on adding a card to my X1900XTX for Crossfire, but this card is supposed to be faster then both 1900's and will be cheaper overall, so I went this route, especially after all the amazing reviews and it is also already DX10 ready. Can't wait for the new games which will actually make this card work;)

Overall, I highly recommend this card if you plan to game. It is a better deal then any other top cards in Crossfire or SLI and even one of this card is faster then 2 of the next fastest cards. This card is also ready for the next generation of games/applications. The price is high, but seems to be dropping fast.

Update: WOW issues have been fixed by updating drivers. Also now running a 20" widescreen on highest resolution and highest game settings and fps are still around 60, amazing card.

Fantastic Card... Needs Better Price

Strengths: One of the best cards in the market DirectX10 support with Vista Easy Overclocking Whisper Quiet Fan

Weakness: Difficult to find waterblocks to accomodate

I had high expectations for this card as I upgraded from a 7950GT. For the price alone can buy you a budget end computer so its definately not for the budget minded types. Your other options would be for the Ultra or the GTS.

After reading several reviews about the GTS being able to overclock to get its speed up to the GTX model, you have to wonder if its really worth it. However, looking at the biggger picture, the GTX model comes with 768MB of Ram to help with the loading of large textures which will only become more necessary with newer games like Crysis.

I loaded Oblivion with upgraded texture add ons and this card really shines. For those of you familiar, Oblivion is a great benchmark as it can bring the highest end systems down to its knees. The GTX just takes it all and keeps coming back for more. I don't think anyone would be disappointed with this card except for the price. Although the new rebates available help a bit. Just a note, I have been getting some graphical glitches playing Medieval War 2 which seems to be related to the new card. There may be some driver issues that still need to be worked out.

Best card right now

Strengths: Hands down the fastest card right now. Twice as good as any other previous model.

Weakness: Big and expensive. No 6 to 4 pin molex converters included. No extras in package.

I purchased this card to replace my older Geforce 6800 gt. I remember at the time, that card was much bigger than any other out there. Now this card is almost twice the size and width of that card. Since the fan is much bigger than the smaller 6800 GT fan, the whole card is much quieter. It is no longer the loudest component of my computer.

The card is amazingly fast. I got this to power a 30" monitor. If you run games at 1280x1024, you almost don't notice a difference in this card above the old one. It does stay at a very smooth framerate on 16xQA anti aliasing but that isn't where the huge improvement is. The giant improvement comes when you run the games at very high resolutions. It goes runs high resolutions no problem. Another thing to consider, if you have a P4 or anything close to that, that will be the bottleneck during the games. You need a fast processor to take advantage of this.

As far as XFX brand goes, this is the same manufacturer of my last card. I haven't had a single problem with it. I was also running my last card very hot, around 80 degrees Celcius, and never had a problem.

XFX 8800GTX Rocks!

Strengths: The fastest card out there right now. Chews up games and spits out frames. Overclocks easily.

Weakness: Needs lots of electricity. BIG. Produces heat. Probably will be obsolete in 6 months.

This was the most expensive part of my new computer build, but I think it was worth it. It plays all of my games on my 24" monitor at native resolution (1920x1200) with all the settings maxed out. It's awesome. It will overclock too, but there really isn't much need right now. Running 2 of these in SLI would just be insane.

You have to feed this card lots of power, and it takes of lots of space. It needs a 30A +12V rail, and 2 PCI-E connectors. You can get a 4-pin Molex-to-PCI-E adapter, but I'd recommend getting a power supply with dedicated PCI-E plugs. The minimum recommended power supply is 450 watts. Size wise, it is fat, taking up 2 PCI slots, and is the longest PCI card I've ever owned. I have a full size tower case, and it is only about 1/2" from touching one of the drive bays. Because of this I had to move my hard drives around so it would fit. The fan is surprisingly quiet, but still noticable.

Overall, I love this card. I'm not that loyal to the XFX brand though. All of the brands of the 8800GTX basically ship the same stock card, it's the price and added goodies that make the difference. XFX was the cheapest at the time, had a double-lifetime warranty (if you sell it the next guys gets a warranty too) and included Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter.

Couldn't ask for more. Well maybe cheaper!

Strengths: DX 10 support, graphics processing, more fps during play, overal great card.

Weakness: DVI ports are next to each other. makes it hard to plus larg DVI cables in. Also it's extremely long. I had to change my case cause the card was about two inches too long.

I have two monitors and trying to plug both monster DVI cables into the card takes effort. They are way to close together. I think the analog output (S-video) port should have been placed in the center and the DVI out on either side. As for the length i did not realize how long it was. It's absolutely huge. Make sure you have a case to fit it or at least move the hard drives out of the way which can be hard when you've got 3 hard drives. As for the price, it's a bit steep. I think they could have came down with the price a bit but i suppose with XFX you also pay for that double lifetime warranty which is nothing more than NICE!
