A Good Buy
Strengths: Price.
Weakness: Utilities are buggy.
This is one of the least expensive 8800 GTS boards around. It follows the NVidia standard design, so it's the same as every other 8800 GTS board out there. I really like the fan design, as it pushes the hot air out of the back of the computer, instead of around inside.
I use this on a Pentium Extreme Addition (3.46GHz) w/ 3GB RAM, running Windows XP. Dual display via the dual DVI ports works really well. Video is crisp and clean with very rich colors.
This card comes with several Asus utilities that sound good on paper, but the implementation leaves a lot to be desired. There are utilities to record game video while you play, IM and live game conferencing, streaming of a game over the internet, and a few others for security, and game settings. After trying some of the utilities for about a week, I ended up uninstalling them all to get a stable gaming platform. My system just did not like the drivers required for these added features.
It also comes with a few games, like Ghost Recon and GTI Racing.
It's cheaper than most other offerings out there. Don't buy it for any of the software add-on's. All in all this a good buy for the hardware alone.
