superior design

Strengths: very affordable

Weakness: none

i think it is as good as the Asus motherboard. So far, it is performing like a charm. I am using a amd dual core 3800 on this baby. It is working great so i have no complains.

GigaByte GA-K8NXP-SLI Desktop Motherboard - nVIDIA...

Strengths: 8 SATA ports, SLI, DualBIOS, 800 Mb/s Firewire

Weakness: Dual Power Board interferes with large fans (Zalman)

This board has great functionality. Have not run into any limitations so far except the above mentioned weakness. Dual Power Board next to the CPU socket does not allow to use oversized CPU fans. I'm not using the Dual power board, but have not run into any problems yet. I am consider cutting off 2 fins on my Zalman CPU fan to accommodate DPS board.

GigaByte GA-K8NXP-SLI Desktop Motherboard - nVIDIA...

Strengths: SLI

Weakness: None.

SATA II, PCI Express SLI, overclocking software and redundant bioses that keep the most ham-fisted tweeker from making a fool himself... Great documentation, in-the-box wireless networking, more connections than a person could plan for... This is a legitimate off-the-shelf hotrod media platform.

stalex,
I am using an oversized Zalman CPU fan as well. My solution was simply to remove the fan from the heatsink of the Dual Power Board. It's overkill. The Zalman kicks off plenty of air flow toward the Power Board, and depending on your case design, the Power Board is more than likely positioned next to a couple other fans as well...

Solid board, needs some tweaks

Strengths: reliable, stable power

Weakness: chipset fan (loud) and positioning

I've had this board for a while now and have to say it's living up to my expectations. I haven't used it's SLI functionality yet, but running it with just one card (geforce 6600GT) and a "budget" chip (AMD 3000+) it's done very well. My only complaints are about the cooler on the chipset. First of all the fan is much louder then I would like it to be. Somehow the fan on the powercontroller isn't nearly as loud, and I'm not sure why they wouldn't put the effort into quieting the northbridge cooler as well. The other issue has to do with layout, and really is universal to nearly every SLI board. The chipset is directly below the graphics card. With a sensor on the back of my graphics card, I would watch the temp sore to 60 C real fast when I start pushing the system a little bit with games. I eventually put another fan inside my case to move air around that area. It definately made a difference but this flaw bothers me. Probably even more so because the board is otherwise so solid

GA-K8NXP-SLI northbridge NOISE!

Ive recently acquired a GA-K8NXP-SLI Motherboard and ive been very impressed by its features. The big let down has to be the loudness of the northbridge cooler, very annoying gigabyte didn't put the effort into quieting the northbridge with a quieter fan or somthing?

I also have a gigabyte 7800 gtx graphics card with a newly installed zalman fatality vga cooler which does a great job of cooling it. I am considering removing the fan from the northbridge (leaving the heatsink attached) and using the cooling power of the fatality which sits very close to it. Is this advisable!!?? It would stop the racket of the fan but im not sure if the northbridge would be cooled enough? When i put my hand close to the fatality there seems to be a good cold stream of air, im no expert but i think it could work! Please someone post anything that could help!

Hi, I also consider to remove the fan but with heatsink and install passive one. Because is directly below the graphic card I will have to change it slightly. I was looking for hours to solve this problem and i found only this: http://forums.silentpcreview.com/viewtopic.php?t=18784&highlight=
If someone has got better solution or address to read about please post it here !

Rock Solid

Strengths: Very stable, SLI capability, lots of USB ports, practically all cables included.

Weakness: Only 2 PCI slots, not enough explanation for the function of "Dual Power System"(DPS), loud fan on this DPS module.

This board is great! It's been overclocked and stable as a rock, not as expensive as other boards and has included wireless card. It comes with 8 SATA cables, and mutiple cables to convert to SATA power supply as needed. All parts are high quality and worked perfectly right out of the box.

The Game Pros:SLI Motherboards For Athlon 64

The K8NXP-SLI attempts to outdo its competitors with a flurry of features. This board offers an IEEE-1394b Firewire chip, an additional SATA II RAID controller , and dual Gigabit LAN. It also features a power converter with a total of eight phases, implemented by the Gigabyte DPS module that has been in use for a few years now; the current version, however, gets by without active ventilators. The...
