Fantastic device for the money
Strengths: Ease of drive upgrades, iSCSI speed, being able to use any hard drive
Weakness: none that I can think of
I ordered the drobopro to replace an aging RAID 5 array that I had outgrown. I shoot mostly nature but do a few events on the side and have amassed over 4TB of RAW files. I needed something to not only give me piece of mind that my files were safe (I also archive to DVD) but also have some sort of an upgrade path as my library continues to grow. I looked at the 4-bay drobo but felt that I would fill it up too quickly.
I put 4x2TB drives in the unit and formatted it, then moved my existing data from my old RAID box. The iSCSI is running on the second ethernet port on my MacPro and is way faster than FireWire.
