Raptor 150XStrengths: Speed, reliability, warranty Weakness: none This drive is fast, fast, fast. I have a 74 GB model and the 150 16MB cache is a bit faster. If you have a windowed case the clear top is coooooool. The five year warranty make the price of Raptor drives a no brain-er. According to Tom's Hardware, "the most reliable drive out there." Essentially made for servers. BestBuy had a killer price on these, but a limited number.

Raptor X 150GB Hard driveStrengths: Very very fast - 10,000 RPM/Buffer Size 16 MB/Average Latency 2.99 ms. Good idea in having the clear glass. Manufacturer's 5 year Limited Warranty Weakness: You can't see through the clear glass because the hard drive is inside your computer (to work you would have to mount it outside. Noisy sometimes (because the clear glass). I have 3 of them RAID 0. It gives me 5.9 on Vista index. Worth the money. However, you should buy the one without the clear glass (WD1500ADFD) because it is cheaper and doesn't create as much noise. My friend has the other without the clear glass and it is quieter.

Affordable Enterprise PerformanceStrengths: See thru design, FAST, FAST and did I say fast? Weakness: It get's hot, Somewhat expensive in terms of capacity compare to new drives today. 1st time it came out it cost $300 plus. I got this from Best Buy for $150 bucks. So it works for me like $1/gig. Games loading time and windows XP boot-up/Power down significantly improved. I already purchased this when this model from the same manufacturer came out, "WD7500AAKS." If you look at the review between this two model on the internet, they are neck and neck and sometime WD7500AAKS even...

WD1500AHFDRTL Raptor XStrengths: SPEEEEEEEED! Weakness: NONE Fast!!! Wow this drive is super fast for editing video - rendering time. After using this I'll never turn back. Super easy setup - legible - Definitely worth the extra buck! As for mine is quite - but it could be my Shark case.

Hard Drive BlissStrengths: FAST! Fairly quiet. Weakness: Get's pretty hot. Very expensive. This is one awesome hard disk. The clear cover is pretty neat, although it is not really visible once mounted inside a case. The drive mounted with no issues, just like any other drive really. This drive really performs, as it reads and writes at blazing speeds while staying relatively quiet. The high speed does generate a bit more heat than standard drives, but in a properly ventilated case,...

a review of a 10,000RPM HDDStrengths: speed Weakness: noise Since I used my pc very often and I have heard that the raptor HDD shortened startup time significantly, I bought a Raptor X 150G to try. The improvement of startup time is about 20% less than a regular HDD would cost, and windows installation time saved about 30%. The raptor is a little nosier than regular HDDs. But if you put it in a quiet qualify case, the noise is bearable. Overall, if you...

Fastest consumer retail harddriveStrengths: nice window, faster than most harddrives Weakness: uses SATA I(old) as opposed to the now faster SATA II(new), must make boot disk in order to install windows xp since it is SATA, very loud clicks(the same sound as a harddrive that's about to die) This harddrive is fast, and has a showy window which comes at a price. This harddrive has a shorter life expectancy than the non-window version of 150 gb Raptor. There is also a warning note inside the box saying the window must have limited exposure to light. Also any pressure on the window may damage or shorten the life of the drive. So don't touch the window! For now, I'm not sure if it's my...

Raptor X DriveStrengths: speed Weakness: more noise when accessing hard drive this is one of the fastest hard drives I have used. Definitely worth the price if you are looking for the fastest loading times. I don't see the purpose of a see- through hard drive when they are for internal use.

Fast Boot DriveStrengths: Fast! Fast! Fast! Special SATA cable supplied is more secure. 5 year warranty. Weakness: Actuator Window not easily seen in computer case. Noisy. Fast! Fast! Fast! If you are the type that craves performance this drive is for you. Special SATA cable supplied is more secure than a regular one. 5 year warranty. Actuator "bling" window not easily seen in the computer case. Noisy. It's price you pay for speed. I hear the regular version without the window is quieter. I have no experience with that version though. Raptor "X" version is... Advertisement

10k rpm desktop user
Strengths: fast, relatively quiet
Weakness: only 150gb, but performance makes up for storage
This drive is significantly faster than 7200rpm drives, even the seagate perpendicular recording drives. The raptor is also not loud, especially when properly installed and the case is closed. I'm very happy with it.
