AMD Athlon 64 3700+ Processor

Strengths: 1Mb cache, seriously good performance for the money.

Weakness: Limited upgrade path: AMD are concentrating on socket 939

Building PCs for people involves a committment to product knowledge and in my case, making component choices based on quality and performance rather than a tight budget. Most recent builds have concentrated on socket LGA S775 P4s but someone asked for something different and I came up with a PC based around the Athlon 64 socket 754 3700. I can only echo the comments of the previous reviewer -...

This is the most powerful chip...

Strengths: Extremely quick, boot takes 15 seconds total including bios jump and windows XP sp2 start up. Smokes ALL intel chips to an embarrassing level.

Weakness: Memory bandwith slightly below 939 and 940 systems, but still well above intel.

This is the most powerful chip made by AMD. Lacking in the bandwith is made up by smoking all known processors. I ran numerous sandra soft tests(2005) with these astonishing results that I will provide for the techies: _________________________ AMD athlon 3700+ dhrystone 11499 whet 4112 5339 interger 23815 float 25796 _________________ AMD athlon 4000+ dhrystone 9991 whet 3786 4936 interger 17902...

Athlon 64 3700+

Strengths: quick, fast, good performance, 1 MB L2 cache

Weakness: the last and the latest Athlon 64 in socket 754, limited upgrade path, not support dual memory channels

In running this processor day in and day out for the past several weeks, I have been very impressed by the overall speed and smoothness in my day to day applications. The ability to run games at full speed, and not have the CPU be the limiting factor, has been fantastic. The latest generation of games run on this processor without a hitch. Even though the 3700+ only features the single memory...

Supprising Performance!

Strengths: Raw power for the dollar; can't get much better!

Weakness: Not easy for a beginner to overclock! But then, is it really necesary?"

I replaced my Sempron 2800+ with this Athlon 64 3700+ Clawhammer expecting to see a world of difference in performance. My motherboard, a PCChips M871G, with a SiS 760 GX/964 chipset isn't the greatest. I have 1.25 gb's of PC2700 memory 1 gig Micron in slot 1, and an Infinion 256 mb stick in slot 2. And, I'm running a BFG FX 5500 Overclocked VGA card w/256 mb's memory. I've noticed an increase in...

amd 3700+ socket 754

Strengths: Lightning Quick, Durable, Stable...Best processor on the market for the money bar none.

Weakness: Haven't found any except for AMD looking to phase out the 754's

The sandra soft results speak for themselves on this baby....AMD has had trouble coming up with an affordable 939 device as amazing as this one....Unless you get into the high-end FX series 64's at a major jump in dollars, there is nothing on the market that can compare to the performance levels that the 3700+ creates....Intel has no clue!!!!!...I have had 11 different pc configurations in my...
